The History of Environ: Des Fernandes and Vitamin A

Dr. Des Fernandes, world-renowned plastic surgeon, pioneered the use of vitamin A in skin care products in concentrations high enough to neutralize the harmful effects of the environment, pollution and stress. After losing two patients to skin cancer, he conducted research into the skin. Through this research, Dr. Des Fernandes discovered the value of vitamin A which is now known as the cornerstone of Environ's skin care philosophy.

Dr. Des Fernandes, founder and scientific director of Environ Skin Care, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by The Skin Cancer Foundation of South Africa for his contribution to skin rejuvenation and sun protection techniques and technologies. Dr. Des Fernandes was also recognized for his contributions in the field of topical antioxidants and vitamins, to which he dedicated more than 30 years of his life.

As testimony to this, he received the DASIL (Dermatological Aesthetic Surgery International League) International Lifetime Achievement Award in Doha in 2019.
